  1. Have a car with a full-battery park directly in front of yours with their hood facing yours. Turn off both vehicles and engage their parking brakes.
  2. Pop the hoods of both vehicles. Find the battery terminals on each car.
  3. Then locate the positive and negative terminals. Positive terminals will be next to a plus sign and negative terminals will be next to a minus sign.
  4. Take your jumper cables and connect its red clamps to the positive terminals in each car. Then connect the black clamps to the negative terminals.
  5. For the final clamp, connect it to an unpainted metal surface on your car’s frame.
  6. Once you’ve connected the batteries, start up the engine of the car with the good battery. Then start up the car with the dead battery.
  7. If the dead vehicle starts up, carefully remove the jumper cables in the reverse order that they were placed on. Then shut off the car that you got the charge from.
  8. Keep your engine running for at least 20 minutes to make sure that your battery doesn’t die again.
